About the Neighborhood

Jackson Heights is a bustling neighborhood, famous for its apartment buildings and its diversity. More than half of its residents are immigrants, particularly Latinos, South Asians, and even its own micro neighborhood called Little India.

Jackson Heights flourished in the 1920s with unique garden co-ops that attracted middle-class professionals escaping overcrowded and overpriced Manhattan. Today, for similar reasons, Jackson Heights has again become a hot neighborhood and queens real estate market.

Jackson Heights is bordered roughly by Astoria Blvd to the north, East Elmhurst to the northeast, Corona to the southeast, Elmhurst to the South, and Woodside to the west. Depending on who you talk to, these boundaries can be different. For example, the primary zip code for Jackson Heights is 11372 but that zip code ends at Northern Blvd. North of Northern Blvd it becomes the 11370 zip code which is technically considered East Elmhurst, however, the neighborhoods definitely differ. We’ve spoken to people who say the above boundaries are accurate, and others who say that Jackson Heights is indeed only the 11372 zip code.
